DIY Cork Board

DIY Cork Board

Hi all! I hope you are having a lovely day!

This week I am going to share with you one of my favorite, inexpensive ways to decorate anybody's room: my jazzed up cork board, perfect as a head board or notice board for your room.

It is a fantastic DIY project that takes no time, very little money, and has a huge effect on the room you put it in! You can pick the fabric to suit your style and color scheme, whether it be floral, abstract, black and white, or even galaxy print. You can even embellish yours if you like. I love to use mine to hold notices, accessories, cards, and reminders.

You will need:
  • A cork board (it is completely up to you on how big you want it)
  • Fabric of your choice (make sure it is large enough to cover the entire cork board, with a few spare inches/centimeters on each side)
  • Scissors
  • A stapler or stapler gun
  • Any embellishments of your choice (I chose none)
  • Pins, cards, photos, notices, jewelry etc to put on your cork board (or you could just leave it blank)

Firstly, spread your fabric out over your surface

Place your cork board on top of the fabric, so the front of board is facing down on the fabric - make sure that the fabric is smoothed out, it'll make the process easier

Trim your fabric to size, so that it is a few inches/centimeters
larger than the cork board itself

Next is the important bit! Stretch your fabric over the back of the back of your cork board, and staple it to the board. A staple gun is easier, but if you are like me and don't have one, just open a regular stapler and use that.

Once you have completed one side, fold in the corner of the fabric, like you were wrapping a present, then fold it over and staple

Also, I highly recommend to NOT wear a scarf. It's pretty self explanatory :(

This is an optional step, but what I like to do is tape down the "fold" on the corners with duct tape, this just ensures that there will be no loose fabric (sometimes this area is too thick to staple)

This is what the back of the cork board will look like at the end

When you flip it over, the fabric could potentially be wrinkly, so you may want
to iron it (with the iron on a low setting)

Next is the fun part! Decorate your cork board with whatever you like to: photos, magazine clippings, timetables, accessories, anything you like! I took these pictures a while ago; since then I have redecorated it with some of my costume jewelry and changed up some of the photos. The great thing about this, is that you can change the fabric and pictures whenever you want. Here I changed up the fabric to a very colorful, bright print

The final product!

There you go! I really hope you enjoyed this blog post!

What's On My Dresser?

What's On My Dresser?

Hi all! I hope you are having a fantastic week! I am super exited about this blog post, as I love interior design just as much as baking, makeup and fashion.

In the past few years, I have transformed my room into a relaxing girly space I love, but I change the layout and bedding frequently. I love organizing and redecorating my room and closet; my friends think I'm mad at how much I love tidying and decorating, and they are probably right!

Today I wanted to show you one snip-it of my room; my dresser, or dressing table. I absolutely love this part of my room, and it's probably the part I change up and redecorate most frequently. I have taken lots of pictures so this is mainly a visual post, and I also thought it was a good opportunity to show you some of my most special and most worn jewelry.

Enjoy!

Beauty Unboxing Haul (NYX, WetnWild, Elf, Bourjois)

Beauty Unboxing Haul - NYX, Wetnwild, Elf, Bourjois

Hi all! I hope you are having a fantastic day. Recently I have given in to online shopping and bought some things... oh well. I purchased off asos and the shipping arrived very quickly, which was fantastic. I also bought of a website called Beauty Joint.

I had never tried any of these brands below before, so I was super exited to try all of these products out!

From asos I purchased the Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder. I was so exited to buy this, as I have struggled to find a non orange bronzing powder for a very long time. The packaging is like a cardboard book, and inside the product is shaped like 4 squares of chocolate. The consistency is very smooth and the product is reasonably matte.

From Beauty Joint, I purchased 3 of the NYX butter glosses, as I heard they were creamy, pigmented and non sticky. I was intrigued to see if it would live up to my expectation, and I can now say that they are one of my favorite lip gloss formulas I've ever tried.

The colors are absolutely beautiful, and the texture is extremely creamy and smooth. The color pay off is fantastic as well, and they are easy to layer or sheer out.

Eclair (a beautiful pastel pink, with purple undertones), tiramisu (a beige nude - my favorite color out of the three), peaches and cream (a bright, coral pink color).

Swatches left to right: eclair, tiramisu, peaches and cream

I also bought 2 Wetnwild lip sticks, mainly because they were extremely affordable and there where some dupes to some mac lipsticks. Unfortunately I was not as impressed with these as I was with the butter glosses, mainly because the packaging was very cheap and the lipstick could break in half. In saying that however, the product is quite matte, and the opacity is fantastic although they are slightly drying.

Pinkerbell, 24 carrot gold (a dupe for Macs morange)

I love wearing pinkerbell under the NYX peaches and cream gloss, and the 24 carrot gold is really beautiful when you blend it out with an orange balm (I used Clinique chubby stick in oversized orange).

The last thing I bought was the elf Eyebrow Kit in medium. I had heard many positive things about this product, and I absolutely love it. One side is a darker, brown gel, the other more of a lighter beige brown powder.

There you go! I hope you enjoyed this blog post, If you want to see more hauls let me know. Make sure to comment down below what you think I should try out next, and leave any blog post requests down below. Also if you have a blog of your own, let me know and I will check you out! Love you all!

Update #3: Thankyou for 240 Followers!

Hi all! I hope you have had a fantastic week. I thought I would post a little update on what happened in January, since my first update was very popular, and I want to thank you for all your support. I started my blog on the 9th of January, and since then I have gathered 240 Followers. There is only one thing I can say: Thank You!

Looking at the statistics, 'What's in my Makeup Bag' was most popular, and it just so happened to be my favorite as well! I also got a lot of positive feedback on my 'Best Chocolate Puddings Ever' recipe, so I have some more recipes ready to post! I was thrilled at the positive feedback on 'Oversized Sweaters: Outfit of the Day', I was so happy that you all enjoyed it.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to every one who has followed, shared, or commented on my blog, its indescribable how grateful I am for all of your support! In the next month, I have some really exiting posts ahead, that I think you all will love.
