Top nail polishes for spring summer

Top nail polishes for spring summer

Hi all! I hope you are all having a lovely week. Today's post is all about nails! I am a total nail polish junkie, I have way to many. I love painting my nails, it's so relaxing and therapeutic, and it is so much fun changing out my nail polishes for the different seasons.

For this post I am showing you my top six nail polishes for the spring summer, as some of us are just finishing enjoying the heat, while others will just be getting into it!

Follow me on bloglovin: http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11555387/aliceolivia

1     OPI Nail Lacquer in You're Such a BudaPest

I love lilac nails all year round, but I tend to gravitate towards the bubblegum purple hues for the summer. Lilac looks beautiful on the nails, and is a real staple. If you don't have a lilac nail polish already, I do really recommend purchasing one as they are perfect for all year round.

2     OPI Nail Lacquer in Teenage Dream

This is the most beautiful glitter nail polish I have ever seen, and trust me, I have seen many! This nail polish from Katy Perry's collection is a creamy pink polish with silver and pink reflective glitter in it. This has to be my most used nail polish, I have repurchased it many times and will continue to do so.

3     Revlon Colorstay Long Wear Nail Enamel in Coastal Surf

Revlon sells the best drugstore nail polishes by a long shot. I have so many nail polishes by Revlon, and all of their formulas are flawless. This color is a beautiful, true, bright blue. This is gorgeous on the toes especially, and I wear this polish frequently.

4     Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in Guava

I have yet to find a nicer bright coral nail polish that beats this one. The colour and opacity of this varnish is truly unbeatable, and when I run out I will have to sprint to the store and get another that minute!

5     Revitanail Fast Drying Nail Lacquer

I am unsure as to whether Revitanail is an international brand, but any sheer, pale nude pink (I don't know the color) is a must have for all year round. I like to call this my classy color.

6     Mavala Nail Color in Hong Kong

Mavala polishes are truly beautiful, and this color is a gorgeous pale coral that is more orangery than pinky. It is reasonably sheer and has the most beautiful glossy sheen to it. I love wearing this when I don't feel like I want to rock a really bright fun color, but still want something a little different.

There you go! I hope you enjoyed this post, I absolutely loved making it. I will be doing a fall (or autumn) winter nail polishes post just like this one, so stay tuned. If you haven't followed me on bloglovin yet, here is the link: http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11555387/aliceolivia

January Favorites

Today's blog post is all about what I have been loving beauty wise in the month of January.

I hope you have had a fantastic January and start to the New Year! One of my highlights has to be creating this blog. Thank you to everyone who has supported me this month by commenting and following me, I  appreciate it so much! If you haven't followed me on bloglovin yet, here is the link: http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11555387/aliceolivia

So, here are my January beauty and makeup favorites - let's hop in!

I had been using my pink loofah, and absolutely loving it. It exfoliates the skin and lathers your shower gel or soap up, just making the whole shower experience so much nicer. If you haven't got one already, pop into your local drugstore/pharmacy and pick one up!

After showering, I have been loving applying my Moringa Milk Body Lotion by the Body Shop, it smells heavenly, and is nicer than a body butter in the warmer months because its less thick and heavy.

My saving grace however has been my Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment, this little red tube caters to multiple skin issues, but I  love applying a generous amount to my lips at night time, and in the morning they are so soft its unbelievable.
I don't wear foundation on a daily basis, but when I am going out or just feel like I need a little more coverage, Rimmel's Wake Me Up Foundation has been fantastic. It claims to have an anti-fatigue affect on the skin, and because of the small shimmery particles, it really does "wake you up" (hence the name).

I have also been loving my Revlon Color Stay Pressed Powder, which I have used so much and have taken it to so many places that it has cracked :(  Never the less, I still love it.

I have also been religiously using my Maybelline The Falsies Mascara, it lengthens my lashes while giving them volume, but doesn't give me spider eyes.

For lips, all I have really been wearing this month is tinted lip balm, and this one by Maybelline is fantastic. It is called Baby Lips, and the color is  berry crush, a beautiful red.

I have also been loving my blusher in bashful plum by Cliniqe, and my Urban Decay Naked Palette has really been the only eye shadows I have been using this month.
For hair I have been using my Schwarzkopf Ultimate Keratin Mousse. scrunch it into my hair while it's damp, just to give some more texture and structure to my curls. It claims to give visibly fuller hair, and it succeeds.

I have also been using my Tangle Teaser for brushing my hair out; this brush is absolutely fantastic and will get rid of any tangles. I don't think I will ever be able to go back to a regular brush for sorting out tangles, because this one is just so good!

There you go! I hope you enjoyed this post, I love looking back on the past month and writing about my favorite products. Let me know what your favorite products for this month are, I would be really interested to know, leave any question and future blog post request also, and if you have a blog of your own, let me know and I will check it out! Best chocolate puddings ever!

Follow me on bloglovin: http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11555387/aliceolivia

Hi lovelies! Today's blog post is not a fashion or beauty post, but a cooking one! I love food, especially baking :)

As you guys get to know me a little more, you will soon discover that I am the world's biggest chocoholic, to the point where I have an unhealthy obsession with this life changing food. Food is a huge part of my life, just like makeup and fashion, so today I am here to share with you one of the world's greatest chocolate recipes, that will CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

This recipe is by Laura Calder - she calls it Moelleuz au Chocolat; others call it Chocolate Lava Cake, I just call it Chocolate Puddings. This recipe is truly fantastic and I feel like if I did not share this with you, I haven't lived to my fullest potential. This recipe can be cooked straight after making it, or you can refrigerate the batter in the ramekins, and cook them when you are ready to.

They are so easy and fast to make, but they look stunning and are very satisfying.

Ingredients:
  • 2/3 cup butter, plus more for greasing
  • 4 ounces (115 grams) of dark chocolate - I used Whittakers 72% cocoa Dark Ghana chocolate
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius)

Grease 5 - 6 ramekins with butter (this recipe will make 5 larger puddings, or 6 smaller puddings). I usually skip this next step, but if you are wanting to remove the puddings from their molds when you serve them,  line the bottom of each ramekin with baking paper.

In a double boiler, melt your chocolate and butter, stirring frequently.

Once the chocolate and butter has completely melted, and looks extremely tempting to eat, remove from double boiler.

In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and sugar together to a thick pale ribbon like consistency.

After the sugar and egg is combined, whisk in the flour well. The mixture should look thick and pale.

Then, whisk in the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture , making sure to whisk constantly until combined. I recommend resting the bowl on a tea towel or cloth, as the bowl can slide around, and you have no free hands to hold it!

Pour the combined mixture into the greased ramekins, leaving a small space at the top.

I then like to place mine on a tray, as it makes it easier to put into and pull out of the oven.

However, if you don't want to cook them right away, you can simply put some plastic wrap over the top of the tray,  leave them in the fridge, and cook them later when you want to.

Place in the oven and cook for 12-14 minutes, until the top is set.

Yum! After baking them, you can remove your puddings from the ramekins onto the dish you want to serve them on, but I don't, since I feel its unnecessary, and it's just added difficulty.

I like to have mine with whipped cream, but ice cream works well or they are still delicious just by themselves.

The center is so gooey and delicious, I am literally salivating writing this!

There you go! I hope you enjoyed this post, and I really do recommend trying this recipe out yourself, it is incredible! Make sure you leave a comment below telling me what you think, and leave any future blog post requests down below. If you have a blog of your own, let me know, so I can reply to all of you and check out those with a blog! Oversized Sweaters: Outfit of the Day

Follow me on bloglovin: http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11555387/aliceolivia

Hi lovelies! I hope you are all having a fantastic January so far! Today's post, which I'm very exited about, is the first Outfit Of The Day, that I've ever made! Today was a really relaxing, casual day, but I did need to pop out once or twice, so needed to make myself look a little presentable!

I've never modeled or posed before, so please forgive me as I'm a newbie :)  I will also leave any important links to clothing/stores at the end of the post.

This jumper is the newest addition to my wardrobe, it looks a little whiter on camera, but in real life, it's a gorgeous, creamy beige color, which happens to be surprisingly flattering on my pasty skin. I wore it with my floaty shorts, which are so comfy AND stylish- who would of thought! I finished off my look with these patent leather ballet flats from Madeline. If you are in a colder climate, chuck on some opaque tights, black boots, a coat, and a stylish beanie.

Beige waffle knit jumper from Cotton On (I wore a simple grey tee underneath), shorts from Glassons
There you go! I hope you enjoyed this post and gathered some inspiration from it! If you haven't followed me on bloglovin yet, here is the link: http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11555387/aliceolivia . What's in my makeup bag?

Hi all! I hope you are having a fantastic week, and start to the new year! For today's blog post, you all will get to see what's in my makeup bag, which I'm very exited about! Before I get started, just want to say a thank you for all the love and support you guys have been giving me, it truly does warm my heart! If you haven't followed already, make sure you follow me on google+ or bloglovin: http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11555387/aliceolivia

I'm not going to go into too much detail about each product, as a lot of them will appear in my future "Monthly Favorites" posts. Without further ado, I will show you all whats in my makeup bag!

My mum bought me this makeup bag when she was in Japan, I absolutely love how it's padded and square, and it has good structure to it. It is a reasonable size, which I like, and plus I love Hello Kitty!
  • For foundation I use Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in soft beige. I don't use a foundation on a daily basis, but when I do want a little more coverage, this is what I use.

  • For concealer I use the Maybelline Coverstick Concealer in light beige, which is slightly too light for me right now, but I'm trying to use it up. It's not my favorite concealer, so I probably won't repurchase it again. If you know any great concealers you love, please let me know in the comments, I'm on the hunt for one!

  • For powder I use the Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder in translucent, to set my concealer/foundation. I highly recommend this powder, it's one of the best ones I've used.
I don't keep bronzer in my makeup bag, but I do keep only one blusher, since some of my lip products I use on the cheeks as well. This blusher is by Clinique, and it's in the shade bashful plum. This color is absolutely stunning for people with reasonably fair skin like me, and gives a natural flush to the cheeks.
For the eyes I keep (left to right):

  • Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in No. 25 Bad To The Bronze
  • Mac Eye Shadow Palette with eye shadows jest and satin taupe
  • Maybelline Gel Liner in blackest black
  • Max Factor Eye Brow Pencil in No. 1 ebony
  • Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Line Pencil in No. 160 jet black
  • Australis Eye Liner Pencil in white
  • Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara
  • Manicare eyelash curler

I also keep my Urban Decay Naked 1 palette next to my makeup bag at all times.

For lip products I have (from right to left):

  • Maybelline Baby Lips in berry crush
  • Clinique Chubby Stick in No. 05 chunky cherry (I also use this as a cheek tint)
  • Clinique Super Balm in No. 01 apricot
  • Revlon Lip Butter in No. 25 peach parfait
  • Rimmel Vinyl Max Lip Bloss (don't know color)
  • Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in No. 101 celestial
The swatches shown below are in the same order as the actual lip products.

There you go, first beauty post of the year! I hope you enjoyed this post, I really enjoyed making it! Please leave a comment down below telling me what you think and what you would like to see next, it really does help me out a lot. Celebrity Street Style: The Best Of The Best

Hi all! Today is a visual blog post, where I show you some of the most fashionable celebrities in my opinion. Any one can look gorgeous in a Dior floor length gown, chosen by stylists, but when it comes to street style, celebrities are having to style themselves, and that's when you discover those true fashonistas! Here I have narrowed it down to 3 stylish celebrity babes, and hopefully you can gather some inspiration for outfits of your own! If you like this post, I can blog more about celebrity street style! Leave a comment below telling me your favorite fashionistas, and if you have a blog, leave it down below so i can return the favor. Don't forget to follow me on google+, and bloglovin: http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11555387/aliceolivia
love you all!

RACHEL BILSON

Rachel's style is effortless and unpredictable (in a good way, that is). One day, she will be rocking a leather biker jacket and trendy scarf, the next a soft blouse and polished jeans. She is fearless, and I applaud her for that! Blazers, scarfs, sunnies and a killer pair of jeans are essential for replicating this effortless style.

LAUREN CONRAD

Lauren Conrad has killer style, and has a book to prove it! Her street style is casual and classic, and reasonably easy to recreate! To achieve her look gravitate towards neutral colors: look for boots, jeans, and white shirts, and over sized sweaters, however since these are staples you probably have many of these things already (and if you don't, go to the store now)!

BLAKE LIVELY

Blake Lively's style is very glamorous and... expensive (thus making it harder to recreate). She pays alot of attention to the texture of an outfit, and loves to layer. To steal Blake's style, go for leather jackets, layering pieces, and neutral toned scarfs.

Welcome To AliceOlivia!

Welcome!

Hi there beauty bugs, fashion junkies, and life loving hippie's!

Welcome to AliceOlivia, which is all about beauty, fashion, and life related topics.

I want to keep this short and sweet, but I will tell you a little about my style and my interest in beauty.

Style

I am all for discovering your own style, and finding what fits your personality best. For myself, I have a very classic, youthful retro style with modern elements combined. I like to take risks,  and I love to experiment with different trends and fashion. I don't like to categorize my style however, since everyone's is unique and their own.
In my blog I will discuss, and share my love of fashion with you, and give inspiration to discover your own style as well!

Beauty

I love makeup.  Makeup is not a mask, but an extra boost of confidence and a way to make yourself feel your best. I will be reviewing makeup that you have requested me too, and will also be doing tutorials and monthly favorites as well. Make sure to leave requests in the comments!

Life

Lastly, life. I didn't want to make this all about fashion and beauty, but I want to chat, express and talk about happy, warm cuddly stuff about life. I am also a budding ballerina, so if you guys are also interested in talking about ballet, please let me know!

I am so happy that you came across this site, and am very open for your thoughts and ideas on what you would like to see this blog become, so please leave your request for blog posts down below! I am working on putting my site on blog lovin, so u will be able to follow soon! If you have a blog yourself, let me know what it is and I will check it out!

Love you lots!
